AmericanAmerican
, b. 1968

Kolins' journey in the world of comics began in Seville, Spain, during his father's tenure with the US Air Force. However, it was in Wisconsin where he spent his formative years. His passion for drawing and comics ignited around the age of 10, inspired by the vibrant world of comic books in the late 1970s. In the 1980s, Kolins apprenticed under various talented artists such as Dennis Jensen, Kim Demulder, and Bart Sears. His pursuit of honing his craft led him to the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in New Jersey in 1991, where he immersed himself for two years before launching his career with Valiant Comics. Subsequently, he transitioned to Marvel Comics, initially serving as a Romita Raider under the tutelage of John Romita Sr., later becoming a prominent artist from approximately 1992 to 1994. His professional journey took him to DC Comics from 1998 to 2003, then back to Marvel Comics from 2003 to 2007. In 2007, he bid adieu to Marvel and rejoined DC from 2008 to 2010. Throughout his tenure at both Marvel and DC, Kolins collaborated extensively with the renowned comic book writer Geoff Johns. Additionally, he's been a consistent attendee at the San Diego Comic-Con for over a decade. Kolins is recognized for his precise, "clean" artistic style and remarkable efficiency, enabling him to handle multiple titles simultaneously without compromising quality. Beyond Marvel and DC, Kolins expanded his repertoire by contributing to Dark Horse, leaving his mark on series such as BPRD, KISS, and Godzilla.
